jigar ganatra, programs director
An Indian-Tanzanian filmmaker with a background in International Studies, Jigar is passionate about bridging the gaps between diverse people through stories. He specializes in travel films revolving around the themes of eco-philosophy of different cultures. His professional work includes films in the Amazon Rainforest, Himalayan mountains, and most recently the Tanzanian Savannah. He has travelled to 5 continents and led trips to India and Tanzania with Operation Groundswell, a Canadian non-profit travel company. Now he is ready to share all that he has learned with you on epic adventures around the world.
Austin ndyetabula, program design
Born and raised in Tanzania’s economic capital, Dar es Salaam, Austin has garnered experience from all walks of life, most recently studying Law, Economics and Management at Rhodes University in South Africa. Along with his passion for understanding and immersing himself with the community wherever he is, he is an avid student of photography, capturing life with film being his most preferred form of art and expression. He is now designing our awesome programs with an experiential education mindset and scouting beautiful locations and inspiring people in his home country.
nickson emanuel, community outreach
From the shadows of Mount Meru in Arusha, Nickson is a nature lover and IT Specialist who loves traveling for a bigger purpose. He is a volunteer leader of the Jane Goodall Institute and works with many local Tanzanian communities on environmental and conservation issues. He is now networking on the ground to seek partnerships for Halisia and maintains many of the relationships with communities that we have built over time. In his spare time, he goes on hiking adventures, edits videos and takes pictures.
