+ WHAT STORYTELLING SKILLS CAN I EXPECT TO LEARN ON YOUR TRIPS?

Through the course of the program, you will undergo a thorough training of our comprehensive curriculum that covers topics from storyboarding, cultural ethnography, interview skills, fundamentals of an impactful story, finding your own artistic language, using light and sound, night photography, timelapse, hyperlapse, wildlife and nature photography, cinematic camera movements, aerial photography, audio recording, among many other topics. You will also receive personalized feedback and individual discussions with your mentor on how you can take your stories to the next level.

+ I DON’T HAVE A PROFESSIONAL CAMERA. WILL I STILL BENEFIT FROM THE CURRICULUM?

Absolutely! Although we do recommend having one, you don’t need a professional camera. There is a module in our curriculum exclusively for smartphone photography and filmmaking and almost all concepts you will learn can be applied on your smartphone. For the modules that do not apply to smartphone storytelling, our mentors will give you an opportunity to use their equipment to practice the skills you are learning.

+ I’M NOT INTERESTED IN FILMMAKING OR PHOTOGRAPHY. CAN I STILL COME ON THE TRIPS?

Although our programs are designed with photographers and filmmakers in mind, we believe that anyone curious to get deeper into their travel experience can benefit immensely from our programs. Whether you are writer, dancer, musician, visual artist, designer, mover or shaker, there is no doubt that you will be inspired from the experiences we offer.

+ HOW WILL PARTICIPANTS WORK AS A TEAM AND DEVELOP AS INDIVIDUALS?

In the initial stages, participants will be encouraged to pick a focus or theme of their choice to explore during the course of the trip. Our mentors are passionate about helping you find your own artistic voice and individually cater for your needs to steer your passion. We all have varying interests and bring different skills and experiences to the table; and that is a good thing. We can all learn from one another.

+ DO YOUR TOURS INCLUDE INTERNATIONAL AIRFARE?

Since our trip participants join us from all over the world, it’s not possible to include international airfare in our prices. However, we would be happy to assist you in arranging flights. Just email us asking for a flight quote.

+ WHAT ARE YOUR SAFETY MEASURES ON YOUR TRIPS?

In the program design process, we do a thorough risk assessment of our itinerary and logistics, troubleshooting all possible scenarios we can think of in order to make your experience as safe as possible. Furthermore, our program leaders and mentors are Wilderness First Aid certified and equipped to handle first aid situations. However, we do recommend you do subscribe to your country’s travel advisories in order to stay informed.

+ DO I NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE?

It is mandatory for all of our program participants to have purchased a travel insurance for the duration of the trip.

Please seek guidance from a qualified medical professional such as your family physician or a Travel Health Clinic to receive the most accurate travel health information for the region you will be visiting.

+ CAN YOU HELP ARRANGE MY TRAVEL VISAS?

Since requirements for travel visas vary widely depending on your nationality and your destination, we are unable to arrange visas on your behalf. However, you can check online on your specific visa requirements on www.travisa.com

+ WHAT ARE THE AGE RESTRICTIONS ON YOUR TRIPS?

You must be 18 to 35 years of age to participate in one of storytelling mentorship trips. Our custom trips are open to all ages.

+ HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN JOIN A TRIP?

Since our mentorship programs are meant to deliver immersive one-to-one experiential education, we like to keep our group sizes low so that each participant can get attention from the mentor. You can expect up between 4 to 10 travelers on a trip.

+ WHAT CLOTHING SHOULD I PACK FOR THE TRIPS?

Packing light is the key to all happy travel. However, a list of the specific requirements for your trip will be sent to you once you have submitted your application.
